  • CIN (Company Identification Number): A unique identifier assigned to your company by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
  • IEC Code (Import Export Code): Required if you import or export E-waste.

Authorized Representative:

  • Aadhaar Card: Unique identification document for the authorized person representing your company.
  • PAN Card: Proof of identity for the authorized person.

Facility Information:

  • DIC Registration Certificate: Proof of your registration with the District Industries Centre (if applicable).
  • Pollution Board NOC (Consent to Establish and Operate): Permission from the Pollution Board to operate your facility.
  • Emergency Response Plan/Disaster Management Plan: Outlines your procedures for handling emergencies and disasters.
  • Capital Investment Details: Information about the capital invested in your E-waste management project.
  • Operational Commencement Year: The year your company began operations.
  • Facility Plot Area: Size of the land your facility occupies.
  • Sanctioned Power Load: Maximum electricity your facility is allowed to consume.
  • Latest Electricity Bill: Proof of your facility’s electricity usage.

What includes Waste Battery under EPR compliance in India

Waste Battery” encompasses all types of batteries that are no longer in use or deemed unsuitable for their original purpose. This includes:

  1. Used Batteries: Batteries that have reached the end of their lifespan and cannot be used effectively anymore.
  2. Expired Batteries: Batteries that have passed their designated expiry date and may not function properly.
  3. Discarded Batteries: Batteries that have been thrown away by users, regardless of their condition.
  4. Off-Spec Batteries: Batteries that do not meet the quality standards for their intended use, even if they haven’t been used.

1. Submit Your EPR online Application Online:

  • Breeze through the application process using the CPCB’s convenient online portal.
  • For operations in just one or two states, your application automatically reaches the relevant State Pollution Control Board (SPCB)/Pollution Control Committee (PCC).
  • All other applications are reviewed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

3. Extended Producer Responsibility Plan (EPR Plan):

  • Producers must submit annual EPR plans detailing the quantity and materials used in their batteries.
  • A separate plan is required for the first year of implementation.

4. Waste Battery Collection:

  • Producers can implement schemes like deposit refunds or buy-backs to encourage separate collection of waste batteries.
  • They can engage others for collection and recycling but remain responsible for meeting targets.

5. EPR Annual Compliance Reporting:

  • Producers must submit EPR annual return reports/compliance on collected and recycled batteries to the Central and State Pollution Control Boards.
  • Details of registered recyclers used for EPR certificates must be included.

6. Annual Compliance of CPCB EPR certificate:

  • Producers are responsible for adhering to labeling requirements and safe handling of batteries to avoid harm to people and the environment.
  • They must report any violations of these rules by other entities involved in waste battery management.
